Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask Review

I received this new-ish Garnier product in my April Topbox but I only busted it out at the end of May. I had a wedding to attend and, wanting to look my best, I decided to test this mask's claim that it "...replumps the skin with moisture, enhances radiance and reduces the appearance of fine lines."

According to Garnier, this mask does this by containing the, "equivalent to the concentration of hydrating glycerin in Moisture Bomb Day Cream used daily for 1 week." It also contains hyaluronic acid and pomegranate, which when combined with the glycerin create, "A hydrating bomb of efficacy for dehydrated skin." And according to the 54 women who participated in Garnier's self-reporting study on this product, the vast majority of them found that his mask left them with fresh, radiant skin that wasn't wasn't oily looking or feeling.

I discovered my perfect BB cream, Garnier's Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream For Oily-to-combination Skin, back in 2013. While I've tried other BB creams since, none works as nicely on my skin as that one.

A couple of months ago, I went to purchase a new tube of my beloved BB cream but the store didn't have my shade in stock. It did though have a Light tube of one of Garnier's other BB creams, the SkinActive Skin Renew BB Cream + Blur so I decided to give that a shot.

According to Garnier, this item: "Hydrates; smoothes skin; blurs imperfections and pores; evens tone and gives a matte, velvety finish." It supposedly achieves these results by including such ingredients as "...a hint of primer...", Vitamin C, mineral pigments and light reflectors.

What could they be?

A few weeks ago, Influenster, the product-trying company that I’m part of, posted a survey to see which of its members should try out a new line of hair products. I immediately took the survey but was told that nope, this new line wasn’t appropriate for me.

I forgot about the whole thing until two Mondays ago when I received a package from Influenster.
It turns out that I was selected and because of that, I was sent, at no cost to myself, small bottles of a mystery shampoo, conditioner and split-end treatment. All I was told was that these products were from a L’Oreal brand, that they were intended for “distressed, damaged hair" and that all would revealed in a couple of weeks.

Until then, I was to use the small bottles found in my mystery box as I would any other shampoo/conditioner as well as apply the split-end treatment after towel-drying my hair. I did just that and overall, I’m pretty pleased with the results. While my hair doesn’t look quite as shiny as when I used this combo, but it still has some shine, is soft and manageable and is impressively smooth.

I first tried Garnier’s Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream last spring. As you can read over here, I wasn't a fan of the original formulation of this product because it left my skin overly dewy looking and just didn't provide the coverage I wanted. That latter issue is one I've found to be true of any BB cream that, up until now, I've tried out and because of it, I didn't have high hopes for   the combination-to-oily skin version skin version of this BB cream, which I recently received a free sample of (thanks SampleSource!).

However, it turns out that my low expectations were completely wrong. Despite having that lightweight, watery texture that’s common to BB creams, this product provides the type of coverage that you would expect from a proper foundation. Blemishes and pores vanished under it and stayed vanished, at least for a few hours.

Unlike pretty much every other beauty blogger, I haven’t jumped on the BB cream bandwagon because to me, these products seem just like tinted primers that may or may not contain UV protection. While they sound great for people who just need light coverage, I don’t see how they would benefit someone like me who has flaws that she wants to cover up.

Still, while I was (and still am) skeptical about BB creams, I was also curious about them so when I had a chance to get a free sample of Garnier’s Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector, I jumped on it.

I love it when a product’s packaging contains a timeline; it really helps with evaluating its effectiveness. Of course, when a product fails to live up to the claims that timeline make, well, that I don’t really love.

Garnier Nutritioniste Ultra-Lift Targeted Deep Wrinkle Treatment’s box contains three timeline-related claims. The first is that, “instantly” the “appearance of fine lines is reduced. Skin feels deeply hydrated, softer and smoother.” And here it does a decent job.
