Nestlé Noir Milk Chocolate

The other day something wonderful arrived in my mailbox: Three giant chocolate bars. They were all from Nestlé Noir’s new Swiss milk chocolate line and I had been sent them because I volunteered to try them out for SheDoesTheCity.com.

I enlisted Shawn’s help for this massive testing challenge and while he did eat his share, he also complained that the chocolate was too sweet and that he wished it was darker. I don’t think he quite realized that the whole point of this line is that it’s premium milk chocolate.

So if you only like dark chocolate, skip these bars but if, like me, you’re open to a range of chocolate experiences, read on…

Superieur

Like the packaging says, this is a very creamy chocolate. I particularly liked the texture and how smooth it was. It really is melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.

Lately I’ve been on a real dark chocolate kick so it took me a bit to get into this item but after a few squares I started to really like how it tasted. It’s definitely better than most of the milk chocolate you’ll find at a drugstore or even certain mall chocolate shops.

Noisette

While this bar appears to be packed with pieces of hazelnuts, it’s not as hazelnut-ty or as crunchy I thought it would be. If you like your hazelnut flavour on the mild side, you’ll probably love this item. But if, like me, you can’t get enough of hazelnut and chocolate, you’ll be a bit disappointed (though not so disappointed that you wouldn’t eat the whole bar).

Nouget

While I love hazelnut, I’m not a huge fan of almond so the mild almond taste found in this bar suited me just fine. I also quite liked how it contained a touch of honey. Yes, it did make the bar sweeter but in a good way. Of the three, this one was my favourite.

One aspect of all of these bars that I had a bit of an issue with was the size of them. At 100 grams, they contain far more chocolate than should be consumed in one sitting. I guess the idea is that you have a bit of the bar, then wrap the rest up for later but well, some of us are little chocolate piggies who can’t really do that. Because of that, I’d probably only buy one of these bars if I was with someone who I could split it with.

Would I buy this again: To share, yes
Should you buy it: If you like milk chocolate, yep

  1. Are these bars already on the market? I haven't seen them in stores yet...

  2. I've seen them in Loblaws for sure. They might just be testing them out in certain markets first.
