Slim Fast Shake Powder

Slim-Fast 3-2-1 Plan, Shake Mix, Chocolate Royale, 12.83-Ounce Canister (Pack of 3)So it’s almost December, or as I call it, the “lost month” because the days just seem to disappear and little work gets done because everyone’s on holidays or wishing they were on holidays.
However, one thing that doesn’t get lost during December is weight. So I figure that now is the perfect time to review a weight-lost product that actually works: Slim Fast 3-2-1 shake powder.
Yes, you know those cans of powder that you look at in the drugstore and then dismiss as being probably being gross-tasting and ineffective? Well, they’re actually pretty tasty and a “lazy” way to lose weight.

I started using Slim Fast earlier this year because of my then-upcoming wedding and, between the shakes and the occasional trip to the gym, I really did lose weight. It wasn’t anything dramatic but it was what I was aiming for and I didn’t have to really change anything else I was doing.

I have one shake for breakfast and, impressively, this lasts me until lunch when I have another shake with a little something else, often nuts or one of those healthy granola bars (more on those in another entry). Then for dinner I eat whatever I want (and as this entry shows, that dinner isn’t always healthy).
I’ve always eater small portions so it’s probably not surprising that one of these shakes fills me up. If you’re used to big meals, I would think you might have a few “hungry” days at the start but after awhile, your body will adjust. Plus you can always stuff yourself with fresh fruits and veggies.

These shakes can also be a great way to maintain your current weight over the holiday season. Down one before you head out to a food-and-booze heavy party and arrive full, with your sweet tooth already satisfied.
I do strongly recommend that you spend the extra buck or two and get either the actual Slim Fast brand instead of one of the store-brands. There really is a taste difference (trust me on this).

Also, do pop a multi-vitamin alongside your morning shake. While these things actually are a great source of some nutrients (calcium and vitamin A for example), they certainly aren’t a complete source. And a heads up, they do contain a small amount of aspartame. There’s not enough to taste it but if you have a sensitivity to aspartame, you might want to skip this product.

Would I buy this again: Yes
Should you buy it: If you’re looking to lose that last 10 pounds, then yes

  1. Ever since I read this post I have been looking for this product but I haven't been able to find it in NYC (well at least not at any of the Rite Aids or Duane Reads). I will have to look at Target or Wal-mart maybe.
