Sometimes having low expectations is a good thing.
After a poor experience with Crest 3D White Whitestrips, I didn’t have much hope for the rest of the 3D White line. I decided to give its Multi-Care Whitening Oral Rinse a shot because I had an Optimum bonus points coupon for it and I figured that it would probably be a decent mouth rinse, though not necessary one that would whiten my smile.
But a few days after I started using it I noticed that my teeth actually were whiter. It wasn’t a dramatic difference and, after using this product for over three weeks, I appear to have hit a whitening plateau, but still, it has made a noticeable difference.
So its packaging claims that it “whitens teeth” and “helps protect against future staining” are actually true. And as far as I can tell, its claim that its fight bad breath it also true.
It does the latter without the use of alcohol and as a result, this mouthwash doesn’t burn when you use it. It is mint flavoured but it’s a very mild flavour and overall, this stuff doesn’t taste that bad, especially when you compare it to some of the one mouthwashes out there.
However, those other, generally nastier-tasting mouthwashes also fight things like plaque and gingivitis, something this one doesn’t do.
Because of that, even though I like how this product tastes and that it actually lives up to its claims, I can’t make it my full-time mouthwash. Instead, I think I’ll swap it in and out with a product like Listerine’s Antiseptic rinse that is actually healthy for my mouth. That way I can have the best of both mouthwash worlds.
Would I buy this again: Yes
Should you buy it: Yes, but alternate it with a mouthwash that’s healthy for your mouth
