I first tried V8 V-Fusion when it was first introduced to Canada last year. At the time, I loved the idea of this product; vegetable juice that tasted like fruit juice and provided two servings of that particular food group. Unfortunately both flavours I tried, Acai Mixed Berry and Pomegranate Blueberry, were disgusting so I gave up on it.
Then, while out shopping a few weeks ago, I noticed the new Strawberry Banana flavour and decided to give this product another try.
I’m glad I did because this flavour is quite tasty and has a thick, almost smoothie-like texture that makes this beverage seem like something better than your typical glass of juice.
While sweet, it’s not too sweet and as long as it’s properly chilled, this drink is quite refreshing (I would recommend drinking it on ice).
I’m also quite impressed with how the “banana” flavour has been balanced with the “strawberry” flavour. I find that banana can often be a bit of a strong flavour but here it’s kept nicely in check, with strawberry getting the edge (maybe it helps that “banana puree” is used instead of banana juice).
I’m not exactly the healthiest eater so I’m actually quite happy that I found a flavour of V8 V-Fusion that works for me (this product does have the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Health Check symbol).
But I have to admit that I wouldn’t only be drinking this product in the mornings or as an afternoon snack. Because of its fruity taste and rich texture, this product is the base for a great vodka drink.
Would I buy this again: Yes.
Should you buy it: Definitely give it a try if you like the sounds of a light, strawberry banana-flavoured smoothie.
