Dove Nourishing Oil Care Anti-frizz Serum

Dove claims that you only need a few drops of this new product to “tame frizz and fly-aways” so I decided to put that to the test by splitting the sample I received in a magazine in two.  And much to my surprise, these small amounts of product actually worked pretty well.

Made with argan oil and something called “Nutri-Oils” (judging from the ingredients, a blend of silicones), this product is marketed as a lightweight but equally effective alternative to Moroccanoil.

There’s no question that this product is lighter than everyone’s favourite hair oil, you can feel the difference on both your hands and hair, but I wouldn’t say that they’re equal in effectiveness. While both products are great at smoothing things down (at least until I go outside), the Dove serum doesn’t bring quite the same shine factor. Still, it's better than nothing.

Dove says that this serum, “…is rapidly absorbed to deeply nourish and help even the most unruly hair.” I don’t know about the last half of that claim (while my hair is prone to fly-aways, it’s not really unruly), it did absorb quite quickly and I had no issues with oily or greasiness (of course, it probably helped that I really was only using a few drops).

Will I buy this product in the future?
I can see myself purchasing this product to take with me while travelling since it does work quite well and the container appears to be much more travel-friendly than a bottle of my usual Moroccanoil.

Should you buy this product?
If you find Moroccanoil or other hair oils too heavy, check out this item; it might just be what you’re looking for.
