The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Face Scrub

Yes, Body Shop week was last week here on my blog but I figured that I’d post my review of For Men Maca Root Face Scrub today as sort of a “bonus” entry.

As you’ve probably guessed by the product name, this item isn’t for me, it’s for my husband. But I tried it any way and you know what, it was OK.

Made with rice, this is a very gritty scrub, much grittier than most face scrubs out there.

At times it feels almost “sharp” but despite that sensation, it didn’t irritate or damage mine or my husband’s skin. And for my husband, this product’s gritty feel was a big selling point for him because, “It feels like it’s doing something.”

So does it do something? Yes. While I wouldn’t say that this is a deep cleaning product (clogged pores stayed clogged), it did brighten my skin and clean up some dry patches, a clear sign that yep, it was scrubbing off skin.

But according to the packaging, this isn’t just an exfoliating product. It’s also supposed to “prepare skin for shaving”. This wasn’t something I could personally test so I had my husband do it. According to him, using this product prior to shaving, “Didn’t make any difference.”  So yeah, that answers that I guess. But hey, at least it's a good scrub and at $14, it's reasonably priced.

While this product is marketed at men, there’s no reason why women can’t use it. It contain Brazil nut and sesame oil to help soften and moisture skin, something both genders can always use, and while  it does have a bit of a “mainly” scent to it, it’s a light, non-lingering scent. So yes, women can certainly scrub away with this product and not end up smelling like a guy,

Would I buy this again: Yes
Should you buy it: As long as you like the texture
