REN Jojoba Microbead Purifying Facial Polish

It’s probably for the best that I don’t love REN’s Jojoba Mircobead Purifying Facial Polish since at over $35 a bottle, this stuff isn’t cheap

For that price, I want a product that wows me but this face scrub just makes me go, “Meuh.”

The only aspect of this product that really pleased me was its texture. As the name suggests, this scrub contains “microbeads” made out of jojoba oil. These beads have a nice weight and feel to them; they’re gritty but not too gritty and as a result you do get a “non-abrasive” and “gentle” scrub, just like the packaging claims.

The packaging also says that this scrub will deep clean your skin and leave it, “…feeling purified, invigorated and smoothed.” My skin definitely did feel smoother and cleaner though it didn’t look any brighter or healthier, even with regular use. And I can’t say that it was “purified” since this scrub didn’t have any impact on such nasty things as white and blackheads.

But I will agree that this product does “invigorate” your skin though that’s not necessarily a good thing. Besides jojoba oil, this product also contains peppermint oil "...to tone, revitalise, soothe and cool.” It’s the peppermint oil that’s responsible for this product’s “invigorating” scent and while the smell is a good wake-you-up in the shower, its source isn’t that great for your skin.

As Paula the Cosmetic Cop points out, peppermint oil can irritate sensitive skin, which makes this product's "sensitive" label rather ironic. While I didn’t personally suffer any irritations, I also have very unsensitive skin.

But even if this product didn’t contain those two oils, I would still skip it. It’s a nice feeling scrub but other than that, there’s nothing special about it.

Would I buy this again:  No.
Should you buy it: No.
