Jouer Age-repairing Brightener

Last month I was one of 10 lucky people to win a prize pack from Jouer, a LA-based beauty company, so over the next couple of months you can expect to see a few reviews from me on the items that I won.

And let’s start with Jouer’s age-repairing brightener, a creamy stick designed to “illuminate eyes and reduce the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.”

While I don’t yet have any real issues with fine lines, I do occasionally get shadows under my eyes. Unfortunately, this product didn’t quite do the job in reducing their appearance, even after I paired it with a concealer.

Yes, it did brighten the area under my eyes but it did nothing to cover up or even soften the dark circles under my eyes.

But while this product didn’t impress me with its brightening powers, I did find that it was a great moisturizer. Containing vitamins A, B and E, this stick kept the delicate skin under my eyes soft and flake free.

According to this product’s webpage, it also contains orchid complex and something called “concentrated Dermaxyl® Complex,” which is supposed to boost skin’s immunity and fight free radicals. I have no idea if it actually does either of these things but it would be great if it did.

While this item didn’t work as well as I hoped it would, it did go on easily and blended seamlessly into my foundation. I also really liked its lipstick-like case, which is quite travel-friendly.

Would I buy this product: At $32, this product isn’t cheap and to be honest, I don’t think its results are worth that price.

The other issue is that this product, and the whole Jouer line, isn’t easily accessible in Canada. While it can be ordered online, no brick-and-mortars stores currently carry it.

Should you buy it: If you’re someone who generally sees positive results from under-eye brighteners then you might want to check this product out since it is packed with great ingredients and is easy to use. But if, like me, you need something that also provides plenty of concealing power, skip this item.
