Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer

This lip enhancer by Jouer has some big claims. According to its product page, it contains something called Maxi-Lip™, which is “clinically proven” to “…naturally increase the fullness of your lips while decreasing fine lines.” I don’t have fine lines on my lips so I can’t test that claim out but I certainly do have thin lips that could use all the fullness enhancing that they can get.

So back in May, I started applying this enhancer, which looks and acts just like a gloss, three times a day, just like the instructions say. Now, you’re supposed to do that for 29 days straight and I didn’t. I was actually really good for the first couple weeks and then I started slipping, sometimes only applying it twice and then once and even sometimes not at all on certain days.

Maybe if I’d seen any improvement in my lip volume I would have been motivated to apply this product three times a day but sadly, I didn’t see any change and to be honest, I don’t think I would have even if I had followed the instructions to the letter.

But while this item didn’t plump up my lips it did do a great job of keeping them happy and healthy. Jouer has formulated this product with botanicals, vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil, ingredients it claims, “…offer ultra-rich moisture to protects lips from environmentally damaging elements while hydrating and volumizing.” While I don’t agree with the volumizing part, I completely agree that this product does a great job at moisturizing.

It doesn't look
this pink on
It also does a fantastic job as an all-purpose gloss, providing just the right amount of eye-catching shine. While this item does have a hint of pink to it, it’s so sheer that you can easily apply it over any lip colour. It’s not sticky, doesn’t taste weird and can last for several hours, assuming your lips don’t touch anything.

I also quite like the simple but sturdy plastic tube this product comes in. It’s not flashy but it’s bag-friendly and allows you to easily apply the gloss without having to touch it.

Would I buy this: Yes, but as a gloss, not a lip volumizer. At $14 this product is a real deal, especially since you could easily use it daily. Unfortunately, Jouer is currently mail-order only so that fact might stop me from buying it.

Should you buy it: Yes, assuming of course that you’re OK with having to have this product shipped to you from the US.

**I received this product as part of a free prize pack from Jouer Cosmetics.**
