Deep-fried Butter

I just got back from the CNE where I did it: I ate the deep-fried butter and yes, I totally recommend that you do the same (unless you’re some weird person who hates butter and/or deep-fried items).

For $5, you’ll get four smallish dough balls, each drizzled with chocolate, vanilla, caramel or cherry sauce and all sprinkled with icing powder. The sugar and the sauces are a nice touch but the main show is inside the dough ball: Warm, liquidy, melted butter.

The whole thing reminded me of one of those liquor-filled chocolates; but with butter instead of booze and dough instead of chocolate.

There’s actually not as much butter in each ball as you would think but I guess that’s why you get four of them. By the time you finish the last one, you might think you could handle another one but I wouldn’t recommend buying a second batch. While these things are quite tasty, I can see how they could be the perfect example of too much of a good thing.

Would I buy this again: Without a date
Should you buy it: Yes!

  1. This sounds like it should be a controlled substance. The sellers should make sure their customers are under a certain age and they should scan their lipid levels before selling this stuff to anybody, it sounds like it could glog an artery.
