Simple Vital Vitamin Day Cream

This is the perfect day cream for someone who is not me.

I really, really wanted to love this product because Simple’s Vital Vitamin Day Cream is a very healthy product. It’s packed with such skin-nourishing ingredients as pro-vitamin B5, vitamin E and glycerin, doesn’t contain any dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants and is dermatologist tested. And most importantly, it contains an SPF 15 that fights both UVA and UVB rays.

But annoyingly, this light, odorless cream leaves my face looking greasy. While I can easily subdue the greasiness with makeup or even just primer, I can’t just apply this moisturizer and then walk out my door (well, I guess I could if I wanted people to think that I’d just been working out).

This greasiness issue is strictly a visual issue; this cream doesn’t make my skin feel greasy and it certainly doesn’t clog my pores. In fact, this cream has been doing a great job of making my skin look healthy and happy. Dry spots have been minimal and while this isn’t an anti-acne product, I have to say that pimples have been few and small since I’ve started wearing this cream.

Simple is all about creating products for sensitive skin (it’s “the sensitive skin care experts”) but vitamin-packed products that don’t contain things like dyes and fragrances are actually products that everyone should be using, regardless of skin sensitivity.  And that facts makes the greasiness issue even more frustrating because if not for it, I think I would have my perfect day cream.

Would I buy this: Not right away. I’m still hopeful that my ideal day cream is out there so I’m going to keep looking. But I can see myself picking this product up again, especially if the formula is at all tweaked. After all, it does look fine under makeup.

Should you buy it: Yes! While this cream did leave me looking greasy that seems to be a Me problem, at least judging from the reviews on MakeupAlley.com. Also, at under $15 a jar, you can easily afford to pick up this item just to try it out.
