My Fall 2013 Luxe Box

On Friday, I was treated to a great surprise: My fall Luxe Box showed up at my door.

Packed in the usual cloth baggie and elegant box were these items:
  • China Glaze nail lacquer in Gossip Over Gimlets (full-sized)
  • Simple Pleasures Wild Berry Hand Cream (50 ml)
  • theBlam Instain powder blush in Swiss Dot (0.5 g)
  • L’Occitane Firming and Smoothing Supple Skin Oil (0.5 oz)
  • HIS Professional Argan Oil (four one-use packets)
  • Michael Kors Eau de Perfume Trio (three 0.5 oz sprays)
  • Luxe Box brand eyeshadow brush
So this time around I received seven items, two of which were full-sized, for my $25.

I have really mixed feelings on this box. On one hand, I love the mix of products; there was something for my hair, my skin, my hands and my nails as well as a makeup item, a makeup tool and even perfume. I think all beauty boxes should aim to be this well-balanced.

I also quite like what I received. With the exception of the nail polish, these are all new products to me and I will be happily using all of them. I'm particularly excited to try out the L'Occitane oil, which retails for around $40 US. And while this is what, my fifth bottle of China Glaze, it’s in a great colour that was conveniently perfect for my weekend holiday costume (I went as a glitter fairy).

However, while I do like what I received, I do feel that my box was lacking something. Another sample or a full-sized version of one of the items I did receive really would have taken this box from good to great. Yes, I did receive two full-sized items but one of them was a Loose Button brush while the other was a bottle of nail polish that retails for $7. While these are perfectly nice items, they don’t really wow me.

This is the last box in my second Luxe Box subscription period. While I haven’t had any issues with the service, I don’t think I’m going to renew. Part of the reason is because I’m currently unemployed but the other reason is because while I like getting my Luxe Boxes, I like getting my Topboxes even better. So for now, I’m going to be saying good-bye to Luxe Box (unless of course it offers me some kind of really impressive renewal offer).

  1. I know what you mean. My box was okay. I got similar items. I did not renew either as I am unemployed & I love Topbox too.

  2. I've never tried TopBox - what kind of items do you usually get? I love Luxe Box but miss getting boxes every month... Might get both!

  3. Yeah, I like the whole getting-a-monthly-box thing. Topbox generally sends out pretty good stuff, four-five items per box and, with the exception of October's box, it's usually a good mix of products. You can see what I've gotten in past boxes here: http://stufflindsaybought.blogspot.ca/search/label/Topbox

  4. What I love about Topbox is the Prive list. It is a list of themed boxes you can wish for & possibly get aside from the regular box. Topbox is $12.00 + tax a month. You get 4-5 samples & sometimes a full size product in your box. It is Canadian. I just found out about s new box called "Mymusebox". They ship to Canada. I might subscribe.

  5. I like the idea of the Prive boxes though lately I haven't seen any that have really caught my interest. But I'm sure that'll change. I haven't heard of MyMuseBox before; I'll have to check it out.
