QUO Faux Glow Powder Review

Products that replicate tans are a must-have summer item unless you're me. On me, these products always look at best fake and at worst, really cheap and tacky.

I'm telling you this to provide a bit of context for my review of QUO's Faux Glow Powder. I think I received this product as a freebie in a swag bag; I certainly didn't buy it. But since it entered my house, I decided to give it a shot. Hey, maybe it would be the one fake tan product that I could pull off.

According to its product page, this pressed powder provides a "faux glow" and "an instant wash of colour." It's also been designed to be a very flexible product and can be worn "...alone, on top of foundation or on top of a self tanner."

I can't really disagree with any of QUO's minimal claims. This product did add both colour and a glow to my face. It didn't at all look natural but hey, QUO makes no claims about this.

This is a very shimmery/sparkly product. The colour is called Sun Kissed but Peach Kissed By A Disco Ball would be a more accurate name. The base colour is a soft, peachy shade that actually blended in quite nicely with my light skin tone. This base is then packed with sparkles that aren't quite copper but aren't quite golden either.

While you're supposed to use this powder on your "... your temples, cheeks and t-zone..." for that instant tan look, the sparkles made this product look well, cheap, on me. Maybe on someone with different colouring, and with stronger brush skills, this powder could work as a faux tan product. But not me. I did find though find that this powder worked as a nice highlighter on my eyes.

This powder is fairly easy and straight-forward to apply but once it's on, it doesn't really stay in place. I found sparkles all over my face and not just where I'd strategically applied the powder.

Like all QUO products, this one can only be found at Shoppers Drug Mart. It retails for $___ and the packaging is kind of pretty though I wish that a sponge or brush had been included.

Would I buy this product: No but because it's just not the right look for me.

Should you buy this product: If you want a sparkly golden look, then yeah, this might be a product you want.
