GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment Review

I really, really wanted to love SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment. According to GLAMGLOW, its "most advanced clearing treatment" is my ticket to "super clear super poreless skin." I want that!

And I also want to experience this, "Visibly see your pore congestion pull-out and encapsulate within the mask." I've yet to try one of those crazy Korean peel-off masks and while this technically is a mud mask that you wash off, its product description makes it sound like might produce the same kind of intense results.

In a perfect world you're supposed to use this mask three times a week for five to 20 minutes at a time. I initially doubted I would have enough free time to do that but then I found an even better reason not to: It burns. Now, I have the opposite of sensitive skin and I like to think that I have a fairly high pain tolerance. But despite that, I found this mask to be physically painful to use.

A strong burning sensation started probably around a minute after I'd slathered a generous coating of the mud on my face. It kept increasing over two or three more minutes and I was just about to wash it off when it started to noticeably drop off. It continued to decrease to a mild, and completely tolerable buzz, and I was able to leave the mask on for at least another 10 minutes. I have to admit that I was a bit worried that maybe it had somehow harmed my skin (I've never felt a mask burn so much) but lucky I experienced no redness or any other signs of irritation.

Despite the lack of damage, there was no way I was going to be subjecting myself to that pain three times in one week so instead I ended up using this mask once a week for four weeks straight. Thankfully for me, this product also supposedly delivers, "immediate and amazing results in just one use." According to a little survey GLAMGLOW did, "After just 1 day of use: 94% felt their skin looked renewed; 91% saw an improvement in skin clarity; 94% felt it gently cleared their skin."

I found that this mask did have an immediate and obvious impact on my skin and left it looking brighter and feeling softer. So sure, it did renew my skin. But I can't say that it had any significant impact on my skin's clarity. Existing blemishes were still there, it didn't seem to prevent new ones from appearing and despite that "visibly see your pore congestion pull-out" claim, I still had clogged and visible pores.

It did though soften my skin up nicely and primed it for manual pore extractions. So I guess it did improve my skin's clarity in an indirect way. But there's nothing gentle about that technique and I know it's not something everyone is comfortable doing so this benefit doesn't really count.

I don't if I'm doing something wrong or if there's something "special" about my skin but this product clearly isn't for me. And its crazy price tag doesn't help matters. Somehow this product sells, and quite well from what I understand, at $79. That's crazy, especially when you consider that this mask smells a bit unpleasant.

Would I buy this product: Hell no.

Should you buy this product: No, it's way overpriced for what it is.
