Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss

I am in morning. Two weeks ago, my new favourite lip gloss disappeared. At first I was hopeful that it would reappear, maybe in the pockets of a pair of pants. But nope, it appears to be gone.

Because of that, this review of Tarte’s LipSurgence lip gloss is going to be a little incomplete since I don’t remember every little detail about this product. I do however remember that it was a great looking gloss that was a dream to apply.

According to Tarte, this product is a “glossy addition to the LipSurgence family” that “will perfect your pout with a brightening pop of color and lasting shine.” I agree with all of this. This gloss brings tons of shine that lasts for hours, as long as you don’t eat a full meal (nibbling, light kissing and drinking is fine though).

Tarte’s Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder

I have found my new daily face powder: Tarte’s Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder.

At over $30 a container, it’s not the cheapest powder out there but it’s the best one I've found when it comes to delivering a long-lasting matte finish.  In my experience, most loose powders start off great, giving me the soft, shine-free look that I'm after. But then, an hour or two into my day, the shine starts returning and by the end of a work day, I look like I never even applied powder in the first place.

But that’s not the case when I use this product. While it doesn't keep me completely shine free for eight hours, it does make it to the four-five mark, which it better than any other product I've tried. And even once the shine does start creeping in, it does so at a reduced rate.  While I don’t agree with Tarte’s statement that this product “…mattifies skin by removing excess surface oil” (how would it remove the oil and where would that oil go) I will say that it does, for the most part, successfully absorb oil, resulting in a mostly shine-free face.

Now, I need to quickly add that this was a very, very tight competition and that the top three mascaras are all great products. While they’re not perfect, they will visibly enhance your lashes with minimal-to-no flaking or smudging. And actually, depending on what you’re after, the #3 mascara actually might be your #1.

Tarte lights, camera, lashes!

It’s Mascara Week here on Stuff Lindsay Bought and first up is Tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! This product is kicking things off on a high note, with great results and claims that, for the most part, are quite reasonable.

Tarte describes this mascara as a four-in-one product because it supposedly lengths, curls, volumizes and conditions lashes.

Having only used this product for a week, I can’t really comment on the conditioning claim nor on the one about how this product is, “…dermatologist- and clinically-proven to increase the appearance of lash volume“(no, there is no link to any study or any other info on this claim).

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation

A few weeks ago I noticed that I was starting to run low on my foundation, Cover FX Natural FX water based foundation. While I love this brand, I decided that now was a good time to see what other foundation options I had and so I headed over to Sephora and asked for samples of their best “heavy duty” foundation (if I want light coverage I’ll get a BB cream). I was given one sample of Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation and another of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15, which is the topic of today’s review.

I've been trying this foundation out for over a week now and I've tried to put it through its paces. I've worn as part of my regular routine (moisturiser, foundation, powder); over primer; to the gym and done split face tests with it and my current foundation as well as the Kat Von D foundation.
